In this lecture we will talk about search engine marketing, known as “SEM”.
We will discuss the way search engine marketing works, and most importantly, what distinguishes it in the marketing world, and what is its importance.
You must have heard about marketing via the search engine before, even if you don’t know how it works.
Suppose you search for images of a wedding, for example, and you will open many options on the search engine results page.
Let’s look at these results.
These links that you see in the main part of the page are called “free results” so that they do not cost the website owner any fees or money to display them.
The free results include links to websites that search engines find among the most relevant to your search words.
Now do you see the results displayed in the left pane at the top of the page? These are paid ads and are the fruits of search engine marketing, so this space is allocated to showing your ads to potential customers when they search for keywords and phrases related to your business.
Another unique advantage of marketing via the search engine is that the advertiser pays only when someone clicks on his ad.
In other words, if your ad is never clicked, you will not be charged or paid for it.
Yes, this is correct, and this is why it is called “pay-per-click advertising.”
Suppose you are a wedding photographer and want your ads to appear in the search results for wedding photographers in Dubai, but you want to pay only when the researcher clicks on your ad.
Marketing through the search engine can guarantee this, and this distinguishes it from traditional marketing methods such as advertisements that are displayed in newspapers, magazines and billboards.
If you publish your ad using traditional methods, the ad will appear for only a limited group of people, whether or not they are searching for a wedding photographer.
You also have to pay regardless of whether or not the advertisement did.
As for marketing through the search engine, it ensures that everyone who clicks on your ad is really interested in what you offer; because they searched through the search engine for a photographer for wedding parties in Dubai, which led to your ad appearing on the results page and clicking on it.
Unlike traditional methods, search engine marketing targets people who are looking for specific products and services, which is of course more effective than delivering a message to people who may or may not be interested in them.
So, it can be said that search engine marketing is more efficient than traditional marketing, right? Now you know the reason.
In short: search engine marketing is an excellent choice for your business. It combines effectiveness and simplicity in a single template, where users search for what they want on the Internet, and advertisers target specific search words but only pay when someone clicks on their ads to find out more.
This is search engine marketing.
We’ll talk more in later videos about search engine marketing, explain how it works, the most effective keyword identification mechanisms, and write remarkable ads.
